Purdue Sigma Xi website redesign
Client: Professor in Purdue Department of Chemistry
Sigma Xi is a non-profit membership society of nearly 75,000 scientists and engineers. I was contacted by Peter Kissinger, a professor in the Chemistry department and the President of the Purdue chapter of Sigma Xi. Their website's design and content needed to be updated. In addition, Purdue's Office of the Executive Vice President for Research (OVPR) was no longer able to update it.
I gave Professor Kissinger several website layouts to pick from, and he picked a simplified two-column version of the current Purdue site design. I also collaborated with Ann Cripe, a secretary in the Chemistry department, to reorganize the site's navigation and update the content. I built the site in Cascade and then trained her to update the site. I also communicated with the IT specialist in OVPR to ensure that the website URL wouldn't change.
The new website is now mobile-friendly, with improvements in information architecture, navigation, search engine optimization and usability.
